Will England win the World Cup?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

It has now been 44 years since England last lifted the famous World Cup trophy. Could they end this long and disappointing run by winning the trophy at this year’s World Cup in South Africa?  There are many passionate England fans who hope they can, for most they haven’t seen England win anything, therefore to win the greatest football prize on earth would be a dream come true.  With plenty of world cup packages on offer, you will get the chance to be right in front of the action at one of the spectacular new stadiums in South Africa.

England are guaranteed to play against the USA at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg, Algeria at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town and Slovenia at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth.  The Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, in particular, is a completely new 70,000 seater, all weather and all purpose stadium. Its location couldn’t be more perfect, it is situated between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, and very close to the city centre and the Victoria & Alfred waterfront.England will be hoping to win Group C and qualify for the next round of the World Cup. If they finish top of Group C they will play the runner up in Group D or if they finish second they will play the winner of Group D. Group D is made up of Germany, Australia, Serbia and Ghana. It is very likely to be England v Australia at the in Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

England’s squad is as strong as it has been over the last 44 years, with the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry and Beckham. They also have Fabio Capello as manager, who is one of the best. Fabio has won many trophies during his successful playing and managerial career. These include the Eufa Champions League and the Serie A title on a number of occasions for both Milan and Juventus. The England football fans world cup packages on offer can be great way to get to see these amazing players on display at the World Cup. If England are to stand any chance of winning they will need to keep their key players injury free and avoid any suspensions during the World Cup. Whatever happens it is set to be an amazing tournament for everyone involved. This could well be the year they win it.

World Cup 2010 travel arrangements

Monday, December 28th, 2009

World Cup packages are available through reputable travel agents from all parts of the globe. However the early travel packages which include travel, accommodation and sightseeing options on a budget,  are all but gone. More expensive packages are still on the market, but you need to act quickly, since the tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11th and last until July 11th

All nine World Cup host cities have airports nearby, including South African Express which travels to 13 South African domestic destinations, Airlink is a regional carrier that is growing, Kulula is a budget airline and travels to several host cities such as Cape Town and Durban, Mango airlines which flies to Johannesburg,  Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontein-all host cities, Venture Air which flies to Johannesburg and Cape Town and 1Time, which is another regional low cost carrier.

Most of the World Cup action will take place in Johannesburg and Cape Town, but in addition to air travel, there is rail or bus service between the host cities. Your travel agent should also include this in your world cup packages because the number of cars available for rent are limited.  Licensed taxis, coaches, shuttles and regular buses are all being pressed into service to accommodate the more than 3 million football fans expected to descend on South Africa during the tournament.

Don’t despair if you don’t have tickets to a match. You can still soak up the atmosphere in 10 fan parks to be created near the stadiums. In fact it is anticipated that more people will watch the matches from the fan parks then will be inside. Ask your World Cup travel agent to give you with a list of the location of the various fan parks. You will be glad that you did. Enjoy the party, but don’t get too drunk as police will deny access to anyone showing drunken behavior outside the stadiums or fan parks.
